Auditor, Contract Field Verifier, GHG Agriculture

Job Overview:
SCS Global Services is seeking a Contract Field Verifier to support site visits for agricultural carbon offset verification projects in Eastern Europe. This contractor will act as an in-field representative of the SCS verification team, responsible for collecting observational data, conducting interviews, and documenting site conditions to inform the overall audit process. The role is focused on supporting the site visit component and does not include full audit responsibilities.

Ideal candidates will have experience in auditing or inspection, expertise in agriculture, and be based in or near Eastern Europe (e.g., Poland, Germany, Netherlands). Availability for travel in November is required. Familiarity with Verra’s Verified Carbon Standard and VM0042 methodology is a strong plus.

Scope of Work:
Site Visit Support
- Conduct in-field observations and data collection at agricultural carbon offset project sites
- Interview project personnel and document site conditions relevant to verification
- Capture photographic and written evidence to support audit findings
- Follow SCS protocols and checklists to ensure consistency and quality of field data

Audit Coordination
- Coordinate travel logistics in accordance with SCS policies
- Communicate with SCS verification team to align on site visit objectives and deliverables
- Submit field notes, findings, and supporting documentation within established timelines

Program Quality and Compliance
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant carbon offset standards and methodologies (e.g., VCS, VM0042)
- Participate in training sessions as needed to maintain qualification for field verification work
- Adhere to SCS quality and code of conduct standards

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Soil Science, Agricultural Sciences, or a related field
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience in agriculture, auditing, or inspection
- Experience conducting field assessments or inspections
- Strong observational and documentation skills
- Ability to travel within Eastern Europe
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Comfortable working independently and coordinating remotely with a global team

Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with carbon offset verification standards, especially Verra’s Verified Carbon Standard
- Knowledge of VM0042 methodology for Improved Agricultural Land Management
- Experience with third-party certification processes
- Multilingual (especially in languages relevant to Eastern Europe)
- Proficiency in Polish is strongly preferred

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel to agricultural project sites, including walking and standing for extended periods during site visits
- Comfortable working in outdoor environments and variable weather conditions
- Ability to carry light equipment (e.g., camera, notebook, GPS device) as needed for documentation

Work Environment:
This is a remote contract position with fieldwork required at agricultural project sites in Eastern Europe. The contractor will work independently in the field while coordinating closely with the SCS verification team. Site visits may involve outdoor work in variable weather conditions and rural settings. Communication and documentation will be conducted electronically, and flexibility in scheduling is essential to meet project timelines.
