Assignments include both desk-based reviews and onsite assessments across Europe.
Contractors may also be engaged to perform technical reviews of verification reports prepared by other verifiers, depending on experience and qualifications.

You will collaborate with SCS B.V.’s technical team while maintaining professional independence and impartiality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct verification of emission data and monitoring systems in line with the EU ETS Directive, ISO 14065, and EA-6/03.

    • Group 7: Production of pulp, paper, and cardboard
    • Groups 8–9: Production of chemicals
  • Apply appropriate sampling and materiality assessments.
  • Produce clear, detailed verification reports supported by robust evidence.
  • Communicate findings and corrective actions effectively to clients and SCS B.V. technical leads.
  • Ensure that all verification work complies with SCS B.V. quality procedures and accreditation requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Qualified or trainee EU ETS Verifier under an EU NAB-accredited conformity assessment body.
  • At least 2 years of professional experience conducting ETS, GHG, or related industrial verifications.
  • Technical degree (engineering, environmental science, chemistry, or related field) – or equivalent professional experience in relevant sectors.
  • Solid understanding of ISO 14065, EA-6/03, and EU ETS verification requirements.
  • Fluent English, plus working proficiency in Dutch, German, or Spanish (additional European languages an advantage).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and collaboration tools (Teams, Zoom, etc.).
  • Residence within Europe and willingness to travel regularly for onsite verifications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lead Verifier status under EU ETS or other GHG schemes.
  • Prior experience with one or more relevant industrial sectors (steel, metals, aluminum, cement, chemicals, pulp & paper).
  • Experience reviewing verification reports and implementing internal technical review processes.
  • Experience working under national accreditation systems (RvA, DAkkS, UKAS, ENAC, etc.).
