Auditor, Raw Material

Job Overview:

The contract auditor is responsible for conducting audits in accordance with food safety, quality management, traceability, and sustainability requirements within the beef supply chain. The Auditor will complete on-site and remote audits of slaughterhouses, packing houses, and related supply chain entities throughout Central and South America, with a primary focus on Brazil. The Auditor shall be responsible for evaluating facility operations, reviewing food safety and quality management systems, assessing record-keeping requirements, and completing and submitting audit reports, summaries of findings, and associated audit evidence.

This is a contract position. We are seeking an Auditor based in Central or South America, preferably in Brazil, with the ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout the region to conduct audits at beef processing facilities and related supply chain operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Audit Coordination

  • Schedule and confirm audit date with client
  • Prepare and send client audit plan according to protocols
  • Book travel, hotel, and transportation according to company policy, and submit expense reports

Audit Services

  • Adhere to all quality and code of conduct standards
  • Conduct audits using applicable checklists, forms, and tools
  • Maintain positive client relationships and respond to all client inquiries and concerns
  • Submit complete and accurate audit reports within established timelines
  • Ensure thorough client records are maintained

Program Quality and Compliance

  • Attend trainings to maintain qualification to conduct audits; maintain training records
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of beef supply chain regulations and food safety and quality management standards
  • Prepare clients for the audit process by sending required audit paperwork

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Fluency in Portuguese and English required; Spanish proficiency strongly preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to work in livestock and slaughterhouse environments.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout Central and South America, with a primary focus on Brazil.
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections, assessments, or certification activities within the meat, livestock, food processing, or agricultural sectors.
  • Familiarity with third-party verification, certification, or compliance assessment processes.
  • Strong communication, interviewing, and client relationship management skills.
  • Well-developed organizational, time management, and report-writing skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and database or audit management systems.
  • Ability to prepare clear, accurate, and timely audit reports in English.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain and maintain required travel documentation.

Physical Qualifications:

  • Ability to travel within and potentially outside of Brazil.
  • Must be able to speak and listen in person and on the phone.
  • Must be able to physically travel to audit sites via plane and car. Travel to audit sites requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Work environment while auditing/assessing:
    • Beef slaughterhouses, processing facilities, and packing plants.
    • Farms and livestock operations.
    • Distribution, storage, and cold-chain operations.
    • Active food processing and production environments with moving equipment and machinery.
    • Loading docks, livestock receiving areas, and product handling areas.
    • Quality control laboratories, production offices, and records review areas.
    • Travel to facilities located in remote or rural areas using client-provided or commercial transportation.
    • Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed footwear, hairnets, and protective clothing, as required by facility protocols.
