Senior Director, Advanced Technical Services

Division: Environmental Certification Services
Position Type: Full-Time Regular

Job Overview
The Senior Director, Advanced Technical Services (ATS) provides technical leadership, supports the establishment of operational objectives, policies, procedures, and works plans with the ATS Operations Director, and oversees the Advanced Technical Services program to ensure maximum profitability through technical subject matter expertise, efficient service delivery, effective client management, and strategic allocation of resources. In addition, the Senior Director will collaborate with the rest of the team to launch, grow, and scale new service areas into the marketplace.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Management

  • Communicate to manager and company leadership about project status, resource needs, and desired technical feedback

Program Development

  • Identify industry trends, developments, and competitive landscape for SCS' products and services; recommend and implement strategy to maximize competitive advantage
  • Develop or update knowledge assets, templates, tools, guidelines, processes, or other materials to support efficient delivery of quality services
  • Establish and communicate best practices

Operations Management

  • Provide strategic direction and manage leadership-driven projects, defining and communicating project milestones, scope of work, budgets, and resource allocation
  • Lead building of operational capacity to launch projects or services

Client Management

  • Oversee the technical management of the team to ensure and provide timely and effective client communications
  • Participate in recurring meetings with the division's sales and program management team to ensure strong relationships are established and maintained with key clients
  • Provide advice and support to clients throughout engagements by leveraging a technical and commercial skillset to analyze, interpret, and communicate actionable outcomes
  • Support and respond to client inquiries on technical matters, including developing sales proposals
  • Develop or oversee the development of client deliverables according to agreed upon timelines

Policy Tracking & Engagement

  • Track upcoming policy relevant to LCA and low carbon regulations
  • As appropriate, engage with policymakers to help shape policy in line with SCS priorities and best science

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Ecology, or hard science (Physics or Chemistry) and
  • 7+ years of experience in Life Cycle Assessment and
  • Demonstrated experience in leading technical teams
  • Experience in advanced quantitative analysis
  • Experience using LCA modeling software such as OpenLCA, SimaPro, or GaBi
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • A dynamic and enthusiastic personality interested in working with a rapidly growing team
  • Providing excellent customer service in all aspects of the scope of responsibility
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Superlative organizational skills, high attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize numerous tasks effectively
  • Initiative, good judgment, and ability to work independently under pressure in a changing environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in a relevant industry
  • Life Cycle Assessment Certified Professional
  • Experience with Biofuel LCA models, e.g. GREET
  • Experience with partial equilibrium models such as GTAP (Global Trade Analysis Project) to model indirect land use change

Working Remotely
SCS is recruiting all open roles to be remote; allowing our employees the ability to work flexibly and allowing SCS as a company to diversify the experience and perspectives of our growing workforce. This is a home-office based role and may include travel with local, domestic, and/or international trips. Details will be clarified during the recruitment process.

Estimated Annual Salary
$125,000 - $150,000
