Technical Manager, Textile Exchange

Division: Energy, Biomaterials, and Circularity

Job Overview
The Technical Manager, Textile Exchange is responsible for managing the quality and technical rigor of the program's daily operations and for managing technical staff. Responsibilities in this position include auditing, technical review of other auditor's work, non-conformity management and closure, issuing final certification decisions, generating certificates, and handling escalations from team members and/or clients. In addition, the Technical Manager carries out trainings to technical staff and supports in the development of program documentation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Technical Oversight

  • Conduct technical reviews, issue certification decisions, and generate certificates for clients
  • Support technical staff in review of complex issues and ensure consistency of interpretation among staff and contractors
  • Conduct trainings to program auditors and technical reviewers to ensure staff qualification are met for ongoing compliance with standard requirements
  • Develop and submit comments on normative standards or other documents, as requested by Textile Exchange
  • Lead or support program meetings and calibration activities, as requested by Director
  • Support clients with answers to technical questions

Program Operations

  • Delegate audit assignments and internal responsibilities of auditing team and technical review team, when team is of sufficient size
  • Populate dates and qualitative information into tracker for each project
  • Support Director with interviews for contractors during hiring process
  • Evaluate individuals on team during yearly performance review for any direct reports

Compliance Management

  • Maintain current and thorough understanding of Textile Exchange standards and accreditation requirements
  • Support Director and Operations Manager with program complaints, investigations, appeals, and mediations, as needed

Auditing

  • Conduct on-site and remote audits using appropriate checklists, forms, and tools
  • Maintain positive client relationships and respond to client inquiries and concerns
  • Plan and execute assigned audits in conformity with audit process including timely dissemination of the Audit Plan to the client and timely booking of travel accommodations

Program Quality and Development

  • Support Operations Manager to ensure developed and updated program documents and procedures are technically accurate
  • Support sales team with technical knowledge during lead calls or in preparation for sales calls, as needed

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field (e.g. agriculture and/or biological sciences related) and
  • 5+ years of experience in a technical capacity working in the Textiles sector and familiarity with ISO 9001:2008 quality systems, or other applicable industry standards and
  • 2+ years of experience in Program Management, Technical Management, Lead Evaluator, or similar
  • Experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis
  • Formal training and advanced understanding of Textile Exchange standard and related requirements
  • Excellent technical writing, observation, and data management skills
  • Strong communication abilities and demonstrated abilities in critical analysis
  • Ability to complete time-sensitive projects and to provide realistic deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Initiative and ability to work independently; responsive and adaptive to team environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in a related field

Working Remotely
SCS is recruiting all open roles to be remote; allowing our employees the ability to work flexibly and allowing SCS as a company to diversify the experience and perspectives of our growing workforce. This is a home-office based role and may include travel with local, domestic, and/or international trips. Details will be clarified during the recruitment process.

Estimated Annual Salary
$61,102.08 - $83,017.87
