Technical Specialist I, Recycled Content

Division: Environmental Certification Services

Job Overview
The Technical Specialist I, Recycled Content provides technical support to the program manager and meets program quality control and accreditation requirements for programs such as Recycled Content and related recycled materials standards. Program certification allows companies to leverage their certified products in the market, confirm both voluntary and regulatory requirements, and meet brands/retailers environmental and sustainability performance criteria. This position participates and supports in the generation of program resources and in the design and development of program operating goals, objectives, and protocols. The Technical Specialist I serves as primary point of both internal and external representation and liaison with respect to program implementation and operational matters, and provides technical and program guidance, consultation, and support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Project Management

  • Conduct both onsite and desk audits according to standards and program requirements following ISO 9001 auditing guidelines
  • Complete audits by adhering to agreed timelines, using the most updated program templates (checklists, reports, opening and closing meeting records)
  • Support the documentation, communication, and closure of audit findings
  • Maintain audit timeline and tracking per assessment project
  • Provide high level of customer service throughout the audit process
  • Communicate promptly with SCS staff on the scheduling of audits and revisions to draft reports
  • Communicate standard requirements to clients, effectively, and concisely
  • Communicate regularly with clients, ensuring that Corrective Action Requests are closed within appropriate deadlines
  • Communicate in a timely and professional manner with internal staff and external clients

Auditing and Technical Expertise

  • Complete clear technical audit reports with increasing complexity (expansive scope, complex industry, standard), including applicable calculations, interpretation of testing results, and research
  • Write clear and technically accurate audit reports following program requirements

Quality and Program Development

  • Deliver certification services in accordance with SCS Corporate and Program Quality requirements, in addition to participation in periodic internal and external accreditation audits
  • Support the SCS quality management system through maintenance of competency records including training log, completed calibration activities, and up to date knowledge of SCS program and external scheme requirements
  • Support program staff in developing and testing any new program templates, as needed

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in quantitative sciences (e.g., Engineering, Life Sciences, Chemistry) and
  • 2+ years of professional experience in a related sector
  • Professional and technical experience in manufacturing facilities within the consumer electronics industry, metals industry, plastics recycling, textile/apparel industry, building materials, or other relevant industry sector or auditing experience
  • Excellent technical writing, observation and data management skills
  • Strong communication and demonstrated abilities in critical thinking and data analysis
  • Fluency in English with experience that includes professional and technical verbal and written communication with clients
  • Strong organization skills with proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects
  • Thrives in a deadline-driven environment by completing complex tasks and deliverables on-time
  • Highly detail oriented with the ability to interpret standard requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; advanced level in Excel
  • Initiative and ability to work independently, responsive and adaptive to a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual or Multilingual in Spanish, Mandarin, German, French
  • Lead Auditor in ISO 14001 or 9001

Working Remotely
SCS is recruiting all open roles to be remote; allowing our employees the ability to work flexibly and allowing SCS as a company to diversify the experience and perspectives of our growing workforce. This is a home-office based role and may include travel with local, domestic, and/or international trips. Details will be clarified during the recruitment process.

Estimated Annual Salary
$50,918.40 - $62,000
