Director, Business Development and Training

Job Overview
The Director, Business Development and Training is responsible for identifying, generating, and managing new business opportunities to drive growth for SCS Consulting Services' Food Safety Training and Consulting program. This role involves building and maintaining relationships with potential clients, partners, and stakeholders, as well as developing and executing strategies to expand the company's market presence. This position will also provide leadership, establish operational objectives, policies, procedures, and works plans, and oversee the program to ensure maximum profitability through efficient service delivery, effective client management, and strategic allocation of resources.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Business Development

  • Generate new sales and meet user sales targets from outbound sales initiatives (e.g. calls, emails, in-person visits)
  • Drive new sales opportunities through direct outreach with client engagement and identification of potential needs
  • Prepare and coordinate proposals, work orders, and service agreements, working with the client to ensure ease of transaction
  • Manage entry of all opportunities into Salesforce, tracking progress and weekly reporting
  • Lead strategic initiatives to support business growth through research and identify key markets, prospects, and opportunities for new lines of service and expanding client database
  • Support Vice President, Food Safety with targeted business development initiatives including expanding key accounts and new opportunities
  • Participate in network engagement by attending conferences, trade shows, and regional meetings that increase SCS visibility and technical sales leadership
  • Collaborate with Consulting team to develop new business collateral, website content, campaigns, and sales initiatives

Operations Management

  • Manage and support Senior Training Specialist with all operations of training department activities
  • Support OKR development and performance including process improvements initiatives
  • Participate in operations meetings to review and report program performance
  • Understand and address service issues and client concerns to identify resolutions and secure long-term trusted relationships
  • Develop new and improved training materials for both virtual and on-demand environments
  • Support training and consulting projects for operational needs, as required
  • Oversee independent contractor performance in training to ensure excellence of service (e.g. KPIs, contracts)

Financial Management

  • Direct the Training department business deliverables, P&L, and budget tracking

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Agriculture, or a related field and
  • 10+ years in business development, sales, or similar role in the Food and Agriculture industry and
  • 5+ years of leadership experience
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant certification standards, procedures, and quality systems
  • Proficient in business plan development and leadership to ensure execution
  • Excellent interpersonal, client relations, and negotiation skills
  • Highly developed and effective communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Initiative, good judgment, and ability to work independently under pressure in a changing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-culturally
  • Proficient with business software including Outlook, Word, Excel, and database management
  • Knowledge in Salesforce or related CRM platforms

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Business, Agriculture, or a related field
  • Fluency in Spanish

Working Remotely
SCS is recruiting all open roles to be remote; allowing our employees the ability to work flexibly and allowing SCS as a company to diversify the experience and perspectives of our growing workforce. This is a home-office based role and may include travel with local, domestic, and/or international trips. Details will be clarified during the recruitment process.

Estimated Annual Salary
$95,000 - $155,000
