Managing Director, SCS Mexico

Division: General and Admin
Position Type: Full-Time Regular

Job Overview
The Managing Director of SCS Mexico leads the establishment and successful operation of the SCS Mexico entity, determining overall program strategy and strategic objectives by developing and implementing services, building and training staff, improving operational efficiencies, and establishing and meeting P&L and profit objectives. In addition, this position is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality services related to the company certification services, securing and leading large, complex projects, and delivering efficient and quality results to clients. The Managing Director establishes, maintains, and builds key client relationships, manages daily activities, promotes the SCS brand, generates business opportunities, and maintains strong connections with the head office in the United States.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Operations and Financial Management

  • Responsible for the seamless operation of SCS Mexico
  • Oversee the establishment of office infrastructure; implement efficient processes to ensure all activities run smoothly
  • Coordinate various functions such as administrative support, IT, and logistics to ensure resources are optimally allocated and utilized
  • Oversee the financial performance of SCS Mexico including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Maintain strong relationships with the head office in the United States
  • Provide regular communication, collaboration, and updates on regional performance with senior leadership at the head office in the United States and seek guidance on strategic initiatives as needed
  • Maintain up to date knowledge on industry regulations and best practices
  • Implement measures to maintain compliance and uphold the company's commitment to sustainability
  • Manage revenue, expense, operations, and marketing goals

Business Development

  • Actively seek new business opportunities to expand the client base and service offerings
  • Identify market trends, assess potential partnerships, and develop proposals to attract new clients
  • Engage in strategic planning and market analysis; build a robust pipeline of prospects
  • Promote the SCS brand in Mexico in coordination with the head office Marketing Director
  • Develop marketing strategies to enhance brand visibility and reputation including participating in industry events, networking with potential clients, and leveraging digital marketing channels to reach a broad audience
  • Collaborate with the divisional sales and marketing teams to develop and execute an effective sales strategy

Client Relations and Team Leadership

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders
  • Ensure client inquiries are addressed promptly and accurately while providing expert guidance on environmental certifications and compliance
  • Provide a customer-centric approach to ensure high client satisfaction
  • Recruit, train, and mentor a multidisciplinary team to build cohesion and high performance levels
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
  • Set clear team objectives, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations to support professional growth and development

Program Quality and Development

  • Develop and deliver meaningful and efficient project scopes of work
  • Track project timelines, budgets, and deliverables
  • Ensure all quality deliverables to clients are completed within agreed upon budget and timeline
  • Assist with evaluating, developing, and maintaining current quality management systems training of staff and document control
  • Design and implement operational improvements and efficiencies

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Management, Operations, or related field and
  • 7+ years of experience within the environmental, sustainability, auditing, or certification sector and
  • 4+ years at a Director level or above managing staff, P&L, and budgets, and providing overall corporate leadership and strategy
  • Experience working directly with or for a United States company
  • Demonstrated success in business development and client relationship management
  • Demonstrated financial acumen with experience in budgeting and financial management
  • Proficiency in strategic planning and implementation; capable of setting long-term goals and developing strategies with a proactive and forward-thinking approach
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team
  • Complete fluency in English and Spanish with work experience that involves professional and technical written and verbal communication
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building and maintaining relationships with clients and stakeholders
  • Possess high level of integrity and ethical standards with a commitment to transparency and accountability
  • Strong problem solving skills with initiative, good judgment, and ability to make sound decisions and work independently under pressure in a changing environment
  • Proficient with business software including Outlook, Word, Excel, and database management
  • Passion for environmental stewardship and sustainable practices that align with SCS' mission and values

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Management, Operations, or related field
  • Experience in food and agriculture, forestry, natural resources, or environmental certification services

Working Remotely
SCS is recruiting all open roles to be remote; allowing our employees the ability to work flexibly and allowing SCS as a company to diversify the experience and perspectives of our growing workforce. This is a home-office based role and may include travel with local, domestic, and/or international trips. Details will be clarified during the recruitment process.

Estimated Annual Salary
$90,000 - $140,000 USD
